Shannon's Experience

  • She brings extensive election experience, having served as a volunteer worker in both the primary and general election cycles in both city and rural precincts since 2020. Currently, she works in the Auditor's Office where she assists in the early voting & voter registration process as well as on Election Days to ensure smooth and secure voting processes.

  • She currently works in the Auditor's Office, serving as the Deputy Clerk for the Board of County Commissioners.

  • As a Deputy Clerk, Shannon assists in preparing agendas for the Board of County Commissioners and compiles topics & items to be discussed. During meetings, she records detailed minutes and coordinates with necessary parties to ensure the Commissioners have all the information needed to make informed decisions. After the meeting, she oversees the dissemination of proceedings, ensuring contracts are signed and delivered. And she helps constituents when they have questions as it relates to her job or put them in contact with the right person when it is not directly related to her work.

  • This experience has given Shannon a deep understanding of how the county’s budget is developed. She is involved in the process where each department and office submit their financial needs and requests, which are then compiled into detailed spreadsheets shared with the commissioners. She understands how these requests are reviewed, fine-tuned, and ultimately approved, shaping the county’s overall budget. She's a key partner in the facilitation of the process, the preparation and finalization of the Latah County budget, giving her the insight and experience to ensure responsible fiscal planning and transparency.

  • Served Latah County residents as a real estate agent for 10 years.

  • Grew up in Texas where she earned her BA in Arts and Science.

  • Received her Masters in Educational Leadership where she learned how to manage and support a large administration of staff and faculty, students, and parents, and how to utilize federal and state funds in the most responsible, efficient manner possible.

  • She became a teacher specialist, where she demonstrated effective instructional strategies and assisted other teachers in the refining of their lessons to engage the students for improved student learning.

  • Taught for 14 years, the last 2 at the University of Idaho where she went to schools throughout the county to observe student teachers teaching lessons.
